Sungu Sungu Petroleum (Pty) Ltd is an upstream oil and gas company currently licenced with an exploration block on the west coast of South Africa. We are currently on an expansion drive given the underexplored nature of the African continent and we are looking at tapping into oil exploration and production globally. The core business activities of Sungu Sungu Petroleum (Pty) Ltd are:

  • the exploration of oil and natural gas;
  • the production of oil and natural gas;
  • the participation in and acquisition of local, as well as international upstream; and

Operations Orange Basin and Sungu Sungu Block – Exploration history The orange basin is on the West Coast of South Africa as indicated in figure 1, see below. There are several gas discoveries and gas shows/plumes around the Orange Basin basin. The Sungu Sungu Block has gas shows as well. However these were not tested due to technical challenges at the time of the drilling. Some of the players in the Orange basin include Shell International E & P, Thombo Petroleum, PetroSA, Forest Oil International, Sasol, BHP Billiton, Global Offshore Oil and Sasol Petroleum International. Forest International has discovered gas, the Ibhubesi gas field and is currently in development phase. Thombo petroleum has oil discovery in their block as well. Quick stats: The Orange Basin
